In a strong call for collaboration, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has urged political leaders and stakeholders to unite in the fight against banditry. His statement comes in response to recent criticisms from opposition politicians regarding the security situation in the state.

Usman emphasized that insecurity should not be a topic for political rivalry, asserting that bandits do not discriminate based on political affiliations. "Bandits have no political party. They do not ask whether their victims are APC, PDP or members of any other party before attacking them. Their victims are ordinary citizens," he stated. This highlights the indiscriminate nature of banditry, which poses a threat to all citizens, regardless of their political beliefs.

Acknowledging the role of opposition politicians in expressing their views, Usman insisted that their contributions should aim to enhance security efforts rather than politicize the issue. He praised former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aliyu Wamakko for his proactive approach in supporting victims of banditry and engaging with key stakeholders to combat insecurity. Usman noted, "Senator Aliyu Wamakko has demonstrated that there is a better way to contribute to the fight against insecurity. He has not only supported victims and communities affected by banditry, but has also been reaching out to those who matter, seeking their commitment and support towards finding lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the state."

The Special Adviser further called on political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the public to collaborate closely with the government and security agencies. He urged those with constructive ideas or resources to support security efforts to come forward. "At this moment, what matters most is the protection of lives and property and the restoration of peace across the state," Usman added.

In addition, he appealed to residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information, while cautioning against any statements or actions that could undermine ongoing security operations. Usman reassured the public of the Sokoto State Government's commitment to strengthening security measures and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe environment for residents to live, farm, and conduct their businesses without fear.
