Allegations of Campaign Restrictions Against Peter Obi and NDC Ahead of 2027 Elections
A man claims that political forces in Abuja are planning to restrict Peter Obi and the NDC from campaigning in key states, raising concerns over political intimidation.

A recent video has sparked controversy as Hayes Senta, a political activist, alleges that there are plans orchestrated by political forces in Abuja to prevent Peter Obi and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from campaigning in several states ahead of the 2027 general elections. Senta specifically mentioned Lagos, Rivers, and Anambra as states where these restrictions may be enforced.
In the video, Senta claimed that an alleged directive has been issued stating that Obi and the NDC should not be permitted to campaign in any state, with a particular focus on the aforementioned regions. He expressed concern over the potential use of security agencies to hinder Obi's campaign activities, including the possibility of denying him venues for rallies in Anambra State, which is Obi's home state.
Senta questioned the rationale behind preventing Obi from campaigning in Anambra, especially since the state is currently peaceful. He also highlighted incidents of violence against opposition supporters in Rivers State, stating that NDC members had already faced attacks. He remarked, "As a matter of fact, in Rivers State, NDC members were attacked. Remember I told us about guarding that office. Guarding the obedient office too."
The activist further alleged that preparations are underway in Lagos to ensure that no opposition campaigns take place. He mentioned MC Olumo, suggesting that local political figures are mobilizing to enforce these restrictions. Senta stated, "MC Olumo, all of them are gearing up to make sure that nobody will campaign in Lagos. Nobody will campaign in Lagos. The same system they used the other time, the same system they are going to use again this time."
Senta urged supporters of Obi, the Obidient movement, and other opposition groups to resist any attempts to curtail their campaign activities. He emphasized the need for a strong response to what he termed political intimidation, asserting that all Nigerians should stand up against such actions. He criticized the silence of prominent politicians regarding these issues, stressing the importance of political engagement from younger Nigerians.
In his remarks, Senta did not hold back in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He argued that those supporting Tinubu's administration do not prioritize the interests of the nation, labeling them as enemies of Nigeria. He called for a collective rejection of politicians who have failed to safeguard the country's interests.
Describing the upcoming campaign as a significant battle for Nigeria's future, Senta encouraged supporters to prepare for a challenging election season. He stated, "So I’m telling us to get ready because this campaign is going to be war. And this war will fight to the end to rescue our nation, to rescue Nigeria because Nigeria is almost at the brink of abyss."
Senta concluded his message by urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and ready to defend their political rights, emphasizing that the fight for political freedom is crucial for the nation's future. He reiterated his call for preparedness, stating, "Please be prepared. Be prepared. Be prepared. Be prepared, I say again. May God bless you and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
