Alcohol and devil pushed me commit the crime - "Family man" arrested for s0domising 12-year-old apprentice in Edo

One Orji Okoro, who was arrested in Edo State for s0domising a 12-year-old male apprentice has blamed alcohol and the devil for the crime.

The state commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 paraded Okoro and other suspects arrested for alleged defilement of minors and other crimes.

CP Daaor said the police in August 13, received a report of unnatural offence where a 12-year-old male apprentice was allegedly s3xually assaulted by Orji Okoro at the suspect's residence

He said the suspect was subsequently arrested while investigation is currently ongoing on the matter.

The CP assured that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.

In an interview with journalists, the suspect admitted to the crime.

"I defiled a young boy, I was drunk when the incident happened. Alcohol pushed me commit the crime," he said.

"I am a family man; it was the devil that pushed him to commit the crime."

He said he was arrested after his victim reported the incident to his master, who also reported the matter to the police

The Commissioner assured that the suspect would be charged to court.
