Delete your NigeriaNewsFeed account, or request deletion if you cannot sign in
You can delete your NigeriaNewsFeed account at any time. There are two ways to do it, depending on whether you can still sign in.
Delete the account yourself, immediately, from your profile. No waiting and no need to contact anyone.
Your password is required so that nobody else can delete your account. The same steps work in the NigeriaNewsFeed mobile app — open your profile, go to settings, and choose Delete My Account.
Use the form below to ask us to delete your account. You do not need an account, a password, or the app installed to send this request.
Before you use this form, it is worth trying these — they are instant, and Option 1 above is always faster:
You can email us instead at contact@nigerianewsfeed.com with the subject line Account Deletion Request. Please include your username, the email address the account was registered with, and anything that helps us confirm the account is yours.
Either way, we will need to verify that the account belongs to you before deleting it. This protects you from someone else deleting your account.
Deleting your account does three different things to three different kinds of data. Please read this carefully, because the third one surprises people.
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Marketplace wallet and all wallet transactions | Permanently deleted. Any remaining balance is removed and cannot be recovered or refunded — withdraw it before deleting. |
| Followers and accounts you follow | Permanently deleted |
| Bookmarks and saved items | Permanently deleted |
| Followed categories | Permanently deleted |
| Blocked-user list | Permanently deleted |
| Notifications | Permanently deleted |
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Username | Replaced with an anonymous label such as DeletedUser_1234 |
| Email address | Replaced with an internal placeholder and released, so it can be reused |
| Password | Removed — the account can never be signed into again |
| Profile photo, cover photo, bio, signature, phone number, website | Cleared |
| Newsletter subscription | Unsubscribed automatically |
| Data | What happens | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Topics, comments, questions, answers and polls you posted | These remain on the site, but are no longer linked to your name — they show the anonymous label instead | Indefinitely, in anonymised form |
| Marketplace listings | Withdrawn from sale and no longer publicly visible | Not shown publicly |
| Records we must keep by law | Limited records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention or accounting reasons | Only as long as the law requires |
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. This page describes how to exercise the deletion right. For anything else, see our Privacy Policy or use the Contact page.
If anything here is unclear, please contact us before deleting your account. We would rather answer a question than have you lose something you wanted to keep.
