A new report reveals that Nigerian banks are offering attractive salaries to confirmed entry-level employees, with monthly earnings ranging from approximately ₦312,000 to over ₦500,000. This makes the banking sector a sought-after destination for fresh graduates looking to kickstart their careers.

Standard Chartered Bank leads the pack with an estimated monthly salary of ₦514,000, closely followed by Stanbic IBTC Bank, which offers around ₦511,000. These figures underscore the competitive nature of salaries in the banking industry, as institutions strive to attract top talent.

The report, published by Legit.ng, provides a detailed comparison of salaries across ten major Nigerian banks, highlighting the differences based on job roles and positions. While some banks offer salaries exceeding ₦500,000, others fall within the range of ₦300,000 to ₦400,000. This disparity indicates that graduates should carefully consider their options when entering the job market.

Among the banks listed, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) offers salaries between ₦325,000 and ₦433,000, depending on the specific role. Providus Bank follows with an estimated salary of ₦433,000 for entry-level employees. Other banks, such as Union Bank and First Bank, provide salaries ranging from ₦350,000 to ₦450,000 and ₦312,000 to ₦420,000, respectively.

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) reportedly pays between ₦376,000 and ₦450,000, while Fidelity Bank offers around ₦360,000. Wema Bank and Sterling Bank round out the list with estimated salaries of approximately ₦388,000 and ₦327,000, respectively.

These figures are based on estimates and may vary due to factors such as position, benefits, and the bank's salary structure. Graduates are advised to clarify whether the quoted salaries represent gross or net pay and to inquire about additional benefits such as pension contributions, tax deductions, and bonuses that could impact their overall compensation.

As the banking sector continues to evolve, it remains an attractive option for graduates seeking career development and experience in the financial services industry. However, candidates should also be aware of the differences in pay for various roles, as training allowances and salaries for assistant positions may not align with confirmed entry-level salaries.

In related news, Greenwich Bank has recently commenced operations in Nigeria, opening three new branches in Lagos. The bank aims to cater to individuals, SMEs, and corporate clients while enhancing its digital banking services. This expansion reflects the ongoing growth and competitiveness within the Nigerian banking landscape, further emphasizing the importance of understanding salary structures for prospective employees.
