The Kogi State chapter of Afenifere has extended its congratulations to Governor Usman Ododo and the citizens of Kogi on the occasion of the state's 35th anniversary. In a message delivered by the organization's chairman, Pastor Ben Ayo Abereoran, and secretary, Anthony Olusegun Ola-Odana, Afenifere lauded the Ododo administration for its notable accomplishments in ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the state.

Afenifere emphasized that safeguarding citizens is a fundamental duty of any responsible government, highlighting the current administration's commitment to tackling terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality. The group pointed to the recent successful rescue of kidnapped individuals in Ofu as a testament to the government's resolve to confront criminal elements rather than engage in negotiations.

The organization noted that the security framework in Kogi has garnered acclaim due to effective intelligence gathering and collaboration among security agencies, paramilitary organizations, and local communities. Afenifere also urged governors from neighboring states to observe and potentially adopt some of the strategies employed by Governor Ododo in addressing insecurity.

Historically, kidnapping had posed a significant threat along major routes in Kogi, particularly the Lokoja-Abuja and Kabba-Ilorin highways, instilling fear among travelers. However, Afenifere acknowledged that the security landscape on these roads has seen substantial improvement under the current administration.

In addition to commending the government's security efforts, Afenifere took the opportunity to celebrate the people of Kogi and encouraged ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering peace, security, and development across the state.
