The Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Solomon Adeola, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of renowned actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo. In a heartfelt tribute shared on social media, Adeola revealed the extensive support he provided to the late actor during his battle with illness.

Ogogo, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, had been struggling with stage-four cancer. His daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, previously acknowledged Adeola's assistance in covering their father's medical expenses, emphasizing that their appeals were focused on securing medical intervention rather than financial donations.

In his tribute, Adeola, alongside his wife Temitope, highlighted the emotional toll of Ogogo's death, particularly after the actor's courageous fight against his illness. "During those difficult moments, we stood closely with him and his family, supporting his treatment and doing everything humanly possible to ensure that he received the necessary medical care. Sadly, despite all efforts, it has pleased Almighty God to call him home. Indeed, God knows best," Adeola stated.

Describing Ogogo as more than just a veteran of the entertainment industry, Adeola referred to him as a "dear brother" and a proud son of Ilaro in Ogun West. He praised Ogogo's remarkable career, which spanned over four decades and included hundreds of films, stating that the actor's work brought joy to many generations and significantly contributed to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.

Adeola extended his condolences to Ogogo's family, including his wife and children, as well as the people of Ilaro and Yewaland, and his colleagues in the entertainment sector. He prayed for Ogogo's forgiveness and for his good deeds to be accepted, wishing him eternal peace in Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Following Ogogo's passing, his remains were transported to his hometown, Ilaro, for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. A gathering of family, friends, and associates is expected to pay their last respects as they bid farewell to the beloved actor who left an indelible mark on Yoruba-language cinema.
