A tragic series of road incidents in Lagos State has left one person dead and another injured. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that these accidents occurred in different locations, including Oke-Oso in Epe, Odo-Iyalaro Bridge, and Olosha in Mushin during the early hours of the day.

In the first incident, a collision on Odo-Iyalaro Bridge involved a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Venza. Preliminary investigations indicated that the Venza had stopped on the roadside due to running out of fuel when the Camry crashed into it. The driver of the Camry is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in this collision, but the Camry driver sustained injuries and was stabilized by LASEMA paramedics before being transported to the Trauma Centre for further treatment.

Both vehicles involved in this incident were subsequently towed to the Area F Police Station, and LASEMA's response team cleared the scene, allowing traffic to resume.

In another incident reported at Olosha in Mushin, LASEMA's Eagle Response Team was dispatched to manage a situation involving a broken-down truck that obstructed traffic. The truck, identified by its registration number JJJ-293XZ, had become stuck due to a damaged section of the road, blocking approximately 60 percent of the carriageway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and traffic diversion measures were quickly implemented to ease congestion while recovery operations were carried out.

The third incident, which proved fatal, occurred at Oke-Oso in Epe. LASEMA's Whales Response Team responded to a collision involving two granite-laden tipper trucks. Investigations revealed that one of the trucks, with registration number ABG-226XB, experienced brake failure and lost control, sideswiping another truck. Tragically, the motor assistant in the first truck was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly. The remains of the deceased were recovered and handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

LASEMA expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance, responsible driving, and adherence to road safety regulations. The agency reassured Lagos residents of its readiness to respond to emergencies and encouraged the public to report any incidents through its toll-free numbers.
