Rick Ross cleared of felony battery charge, faces two misdemeanors in Florida
Prosecutors have dropped felony charges against rapper Rick Ross, who now faces two misdemeanors.

Rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, has had a felony battery charge dismissed in a domestic violence case in Florida due to insufficient evidence. The decision was confirmed through court documents obtained by TMZ, revealing that prosecutors have instead filed two misdemeanor charges against him: one for battery and another for battery/domestic violence.
The 50-year-old artist was initially arrested on October 1, facing serious allegations including felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. Following the recent developments, Ross has pleaded not guilty to the remaining charges.
The allegations stem from an incident reported to have occurred at Ross's Miami residence on August 28. According to the arrest report, the victim claimed that Ross confronted her over a photo she was tagged in on Instagram, leading to a violent altercation. The report details that Ross allegedly struck the victim multiple times, choked her, and slammed her against a wall, resulting in visible injuries.
The victim provided photographic evidence of her injuries, which included a busted lip, and indicated that she had attempted to leave the residence during the incident. Despite her efforts, she was reportedly turned away by a friend she contacted for help. The police also noted potential video footage related to the incident, which could further substantiate the claims against Ross.
Miami Beach Police spokesman Christopher Bess emphasized the seriousness with which the department treats allegations of domestic violence, stating, "Our detectives, our police department, takes any allegations of domestic violence very seriously, which is why we acted swiftly."
Ross's legal team, consisting of attorneys Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenste, has maintained that he is being "wrongfully accused" by an ex-girlfriend. They expressed confidence in his innocence, urging the public not to prejudge the situation as the judicial process unfolds. "Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges," they stated.
As the case progresses, the rapper remains under scrutiny while navigating the legal challenges posed by the two misdemeanor charges. The outcome of these proceedings will be closely watched by fans and the public alike, as they await further developments in this high-profile case.
