Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi has officially resigned from his role as Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC). His resignation comes after being nominated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a new position as a commissioner.

In a farewell address delivered to the commissioners and staff of KANSIEC, Malumfashi expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure. He highlighted the successful execution of the 2024 local government elections in Kano State as a significant achievement of the commission, crediting the dedication of his team.

Malumfashi's statement, shared through his media aide Bashir Habib Yahya, emphasized the importance of unity within the commission. He urged the staff to extend the same level of cooperation to his successor to ensure the seamless continuation of the commission's operations.

“I urge you all to extend the same cooperation and support to the incoming leadership to ensure that the commission continues to carry out its responsibilities smoothly,” he stated. He also took the opportunity to seek forgiveness from anyone he may have offended during his time in office, assuring that he holds no grudges against anyone.
