Motor assistant dies in Lagos truck crash after brake failure incident
A tragic accident in Lagos results in the death of a motor assistant following a truck collision.

A motor assistant has tragically lost his life in a truck accident that occurred early Saturday morning in the Epe area of Lagos State. The incident, which took place around 6:19 AM at Oke-Oso, involved two trucks, one of which reportedly experienced brake failure.
According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the truck with registration number ABG-226XB collided with another tipper truck after losing control. The impact of the collision was severe enough to throw the motor assistant off the vehicle, resulting in his death upon impact.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that the deceased, an adult male, was recovered from the scene and subsequently handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Both trucks involved in the accident have been removed from the site and taken to the FRSC office for further investigation.
In addition to this tragic incident, LASEMA reported handling two other emergencies overnight. One involved a collision between a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Venza on the Odo-Iyalaro Bridge. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Venza had stopped due to fuel insufficiency when the driver of the Camry, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, crashed into it. Fortunately, the driver of the Camry sustained injuries but did not suffer life-threatening consequences.
The Camry driver received immediate medical attention from LASEMA paramedics and was later evacuated to the Trauma Centre for further care. Both vehicles involved in this incident were towed to the Area F Police Station, and the accident scene was cleared to restore traffic flow.
Another incident reported by LASEMA involved a broken-down HOWO truck in Mushin, which obstructed a significant portion of the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this case. The agency deployed heavy-duty equipment to recover the truck and restore normal vehicular movement in the area.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased motor assistant and emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance, responsible driving, and adherence to road safety regulations. He reassured residents of Lagos that the agency is on high alert and ready to respond to emergencies through its toll-free lines 767 and 112.
