Uzodimma rejects Rainbow Coalition in Imo, insists on APC loyalty ahead of elections
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has firmly dismissed the Rainbow Coalition's presence in his state, urging loyalty to the APC as the 2027 elections approach.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has declared that the Rainbow Coalition, led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, will not be tolerated in Imo as the state gears up for the 2027 general elections. This statement was made during a rally held by the PAC Door-to-Door campaign group, a pro-Bola Tinubu initiative, where Uzodimma emphasized the need for unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing supporters at the rally, Uzodimma made it clear that any attempts to form alliances outside the APC would be met with resistance. "There is no rainbow coalition in Imo State. Are you listening?" he asserted, drawing a definitive line against any cross-party collaboration within the region. His comments come in the wake of ongoing tensions with Wike, who has been working to unite various political factions in support of Tinubu's re-election.
Uzodimma, who also serves as the Secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, stressed the importance of party loyalty among members of his administration. He warned, "If I see you walk outside APC, I'll collect the vehicle from you," underscoring the seriousness of his message to party members.
The governor praised High Chief Tompolo, the founder of the PAC Door-to-Door initiative, for his commitment to the campaign, highlighting the group's efforts that have reached over 15 states across Nigeria. He referred to the volunteers as "image makers" and reiterated that Imo State would fully support Tinubu's quest for a second term.
The friction between Uzodimma and Wike has been escalating, particularly regarding the Rainbow Coalition's strategy in Imo State, where both the APC and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) are expected to contest for key positions in the upcoming elections. While Wike has stated that the coalition's support for Tinubu does not hinder the PDP from presenting its own candidates, Uzodimma firmly rejected this notion, insisting that votes in Imo must be derived solely from the APC's achievements.
In a rallying cry for party unity, Uzodimma urged constituents to vote exclusively for APC candidates across all levels of government, stating, "Vote APC for House of Assembly. Vote APC for the Governor. Vote APC for House of Reps. Vote APC for Senate. Crown it with APC in the Presidency. We have no other party."
As the political landscape intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections, Uzodimma's stance signals a clear commitment to maintaining APC dominance in Imo State, while also challenging the influence of the Rainbow Coalition led by Wike.
