Joseph Danjuma, the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nasarawa State, has officially resigned from his position within the party, expressing dissatisfaction with his ability to fulfill his responsibilities. In a significant shift, Danjuma has pledged his support for the governorship campaign of Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, a former Inspector-General of Police and candidate from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In his resignation letter, dated Tuesday, Danjuma addressed the state chairman of the NDC, articulating his reasons for leaving the party. He stated that his decision was influenced by the limited opportunities he encountered to perform his role effectively as the party’s spokesperson.

Danjuma’s letter included a clear endorsement of Adamu, highlighting the former police chief’s leadership qualities as essential for advancing the state. He wrote, “I wish to humbly resign my membership and position as the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Nasarawa State Chapter, with immediate effect. My decision follows the lack of opportunity to perform my role as the spokesperson of the party in the state. With this development, I hereby fully join the campaign train of Ex-IGP Adamu. Thank you.”

With a background in journalism, Danjuma has previously served as the Chief Press Secretary to a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Damishi Luka Barau. His resignation marks a notable change in the political landscape of the state as he aligns himself with Adamu’s campaign, potentially influencing other party members and supporters.

Adamu, who is vying for the governorship position, is expected to leverage Danjuma's experience and connections in the media to bolster his campaign as the election approaches. This development may also signal a shift in support dynamics within the NDC and the broader political arena in Nasarawa State as candidates prepare for the upcoming elections.
