The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 40-year-old man, Sallau Inuwa, also known as Liman Katagum, for allegedly murdering his colleague, Ibrahim, aged 45, following a dispute over proceeds from a car wash business. This tragic incident took place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Bauchi metropolis.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the disagreement between Inuwa and Ibrahim arose over the pricing of car wash services. The altercation quickly escalated, leading Inuwa to allegedly grab a knife and stab Ibrahim multiple times.

Despite immediate medical attention, Ibrahim succumbed to his injuries at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi. Following the incident, police operatives from A Division in Bauchi launched an investigation. Reports indicate that Inuwa fled to his paternal home in the Liman Katagum area after the stabbing.

The police swiftly coordinated with the Divisional Police Officer in Liman Katagum, which led to Inuwa's arrest in Mararraban Liman Katagum. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed deep concern over the incident, labeling it a tragic loss of life stemming from a financial disagreement.

In his statement, Aliyu extended condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue rather than violence. He remarked, "Provocation cannot justify taking another person’s life," reiterating that no matter the circumstances, resorting to lethal violence is unacceptable.

Inuwa is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi, where investigations are ongoing in preparation for his prosecution.
