Nigerian entrepreneur Hauwa Saidu Mohammed, widely known as Jaruma, has reportedly been detained by the police since Monday due to her social media activity concerning an alleged dispute involving Seyi Tinubu and a woman she identified as his girlfriend.

According to SaharaReporters, Jaruma's detention stems from posts she made on TikTok between July and September 2026, which included abusive messages and claims regarding Rayan Ghassan Kamal, who is said to be Seyi Tinubu's personal assistant. The police have filed a two-count charge against her under the Cybercrimes Act, indicating serious legal implications for her online actions.

Documents from the Nigeria Police Force's National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja reveal that Jaruma has been granted administrative bail. However, the conditions set for her release are reportedly stringent and difficult to fulfill. The bail conditions, dated October 23, require her to provide two sureties, one of whom must be a federal civil servant at Grade Level 15 or higher, and the other a business owner with property in Abuja.

Sources suggest that these bail conditions may have been intentionally made challenging to prevent her from being released before the weekend, although this claim has yet to be substantiated. The situation has raised eyebrows, particularly regarding the involvement of Seyi Tinubu and his associates in the matter.

Interestingly, a bodyguard linked to Seyi Tinubu reportedly visited the Cybercrime Centre on the same day but was not detained, suggesting a potential connection to the case without direct involvement in the legal proceedings against Jaruma.

As the legal process unfolds, Jaruma is expected to be arraigned on Monday. Notably, the charge sheet does not name Seyi Tinubu as the complainant, nor does it indicate that he personally ordered her detention, leaving questions about the motivations behind the police action.

This incident highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding social media use in Nigeria, particularly regarding public figures and their interactions online. With the legal implications of her case, Jaruma's situation may serve as a cautionary tale for others navigating the complexities of digital expression in the country.
