Telecommunications users across several states in Nigeria are currently experiencing significant network disruptions, as confirmed by MTN Nigeria. The company, which is the largest telecom operator in the country, announced the outage through a statement on X, addressing its subscribers directly.

The affected areas include Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Oyo, and Delta states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory. MTN Nigeria has acknowledged the inconvenience caused to its customers and stated that its engineers are actively working to resolve the issues.

In their announcement, MTN Nigeria said, "Network Outage Alert! We’re experiencing network challenges in some parts of Oyo, Lagos, Rivers, FCT and Delta States and our services may be temporarily unavailable as a result. Our engineers are working to restore services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the regulatory body for telecommunications in the country, had previously mandated that service providers inform subscribers about any disruptions in service. This directive aims to enhance transparency and keep users informed during such outages.

As the situation develops, subscribers are encouraged to remain patient while MTN Nigeria works towards restoring full service. The company has not provided a specific timeline for when normal operations will resume, but they have assured users that efforts are underway to rectify the issues as quickly as possible.

This outage comes at a time when reliable telecommunications services are crucial for both personal and business communications, highlighting the importance of robust infrastructure in the sector. Subscribers in the affected states are advised to stay tuned for further updates from MTN Nigeria regarding the restoration of services.
