Thales to enhance Royal Air Maroc's operations with advanced digital solutions
The partnership aims to enhance flight safety and operational efficiency as the airline expands its fleet.

Royal Air Maroc has entered into a strategic partnership with Thales, a prominent aerospace and defence technology firm, to implement digital aviation solutions that focus on improving flight safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability. This collaboration comes as the Moroccan airline sets its sights on expanding its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.
As part of this agreement, Thales will supply Royal Air Maroc with its AvioBook Flight Electronic Flight Bag platform. This sophisticated software solution is designed to support various flight operations before, during, and after each flight. The implementation of the AvioBook platform is anticipated to mitigate safety risks, enhance regulatory compliance, and improve technological resilience, while also reducing aircraft turnaround times.
Thales has emphasized that the AvioBook Flight solution integrates flight operations functions with back-office systems, thereby improving overall efficiency and addressing the practical needs of airline users. With over a decade of development and deployment experience, the software is currently in use by 70 airlines worldwide.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Thales and Royal Air Maroc, which has previously included in-flight entertainment, maintenance, and cybersecurity services. Frédéric Dru, CEO of AvioBook, expressed pride in providing Royal Air Maroc with leading software solutions that align with the airline’s ambitious digitalisation and expansion goals. He stated, "We look forward to contributing to the airline’s evolution, positioning high technology at the heart of its development."
Yan Levy, CEO of Thales in Morocco, highlighted that this partnership reflects Thales' commitment to supporting Morocco’s aviation ambitions. He noted, "This agreement reflects Thales’ long-standing commitment to Morocco and to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions. As Royal Air Maroc pursues its fleet expansion and strengthens its role as a leading carrier, we are proud to contribute with scalable digital solutions that enhance competitiveness, operational excellence, and sustainability."
The announcement of this partnership coincided with Thales's participation in the Marrakech Airshow 2026, which took place from October 7 to 10 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base in Marrakech. At this event, Thales showcased a range of solutions for civil aviation, defence, cybersecurity, and digital technology, while engaging with Moroccan customers and partners. The company reiterated its commitment to developing Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem through innovation and local engagement.
