Son arrested for taking promotional exam on behalf of father in Abuja
Monsuru Musa was caught writing an exam for his father, a fire service worker, in Abuja.

In a surprising turn of events, a 33-year-old man named Monsuru Musa was apprehended today for attempting to take a promotional examination for his father, Musa Mohammed, who is employed by the FCT Fire Service. The incident occurred at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) premises, where the examination was being held.
According to Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson for the security command, Monsuru was caught in the act after security personnel were alerted by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Upon questioning, Monsuru claimed that his father was unwell and could not attend the exam. However, his justification raised eyebrows as he was found sitting for the exam on behalf of his father, who is reportedly aged between 67 and 68 years old.
The situation became even more complicated when Musa Mohammed, the father, was questioned about his age. He asserted that he would turn 60 in February 2027, contradicting his son's claim. During the interrogation, Musa Mohammed revealed that he completed his secondary education in 1982 and his primary education in 1977.
Following the incident, both father and son were taken into custody by the police after providing their statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). This case has raised significant concerns regarding integrity in civil service examinations, especially in the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Civil Service Commission promotional examination is a crucial process for the advancement of civil servants within the Federal Capital Territory, and incidents like this undermine the credibility of such assessments. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that appropriate measures are taken against any fraudulent activities related to civil service examinations.
