In a significant operation against drug trafficking, 11 suspected drug peddlers were apprehended by troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Potiskum in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yobe State. The arrests took place in Fika Local Government Area during a coordinated raid on Monday, targeting communities known for illicit drug activities.

The operation, which was executed around 2 p.m., focused on the Ganda, Wudil, and Degubi Bare Bari communities. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the raid via a post on X, highlighting the proactive measures taken by security forces to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

During the operation, the security teams recovered a variety of suspected illicit drugs, including cannabis, Tramadol capsules, Diazepam, and Exol tablets. These substances are commonly associated with drug abuse and trafficking, raising concerns about their impact on local communities.

Following the arrests, the suspects, along with the confiscated drugs, were handed over to the NDLEA office in Potiskum for further investigation and potential prosecution. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to tackle the growing issue of drug trafficking, which poses significant challenges to public health and safety.

The collaboration between military and law enforcement agencies reflects a strategic approach to enhance security and curb drug-related crimes in Yobe State, an area that has faced various security challenges in recent years. As the fight against drug trafficking continues, authorities are expected to intensify their operations to ensure that those involved in the trade are brought to justice.
