A man named Lucky Adim has been taken into custody by the Imo State police for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on his 10-year-old daughter, Confidence Adim, using an electric cable. The arrest occurred on Friday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, following a report from the Stand for Humanity Foundation, a human rights organization.
The disturbing case came to light when Confidence, along with her two younger siblings, was brought to the foundation in a critically injured state. Concerned citizens rescued the children from the streets and sought help from the organization. Chidiebube Okeoma, the leader of the Stand for Humanity Foundation, reported that the police were notified immediately, leading to the swift apprehension of Adim.
During police questioning, Adim reportedly confessed to the assault, admitting to using a cable wire to brutalize his daughter. The severity of Confidence's injuries necessitated immediate medical attention, and she was subsequently taken to the Police Hospital in Owerri for treatment.
In the aftermath of the incident, the two younger siblings of Confidence have been placed in a local orphanage for temporary care, ensuring their safety and well-being while further arrangements are made.
