In response to escalating cult-related violence in Osogbo, the Osun State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to the Oke-Baale area of the state capital. This decision comes after a series of violent incidents, including a deadly clash that occurred on October 2, 2026, in the Owo-Eba area.

The police reported that during the clash, two individuals, Adebayo Taoreed, known as "Small Rugged," and Oluwaseyi Daniel, referred to as "OSHA," were shot dead. Additionally, several others sustained injuries from gunfire. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these violent events.

Following the initial clash, further violence erupted on October 4, when suspected cultists attacked the Arowomole area. In this incident, Rasak Wahab, also known as "Ojo Iku," was shot and has since been taken to a hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, described the situation as alarming and has ordered all tactical teams to focus their efforts on the Oke-Baale area until stability is restored. In a statement, the police emphasized the need for intelligence-led operations targeting known cult members and criminal hideouts.

The police have transferred the cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for thorough investigation. Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have been instructed to enhance patrols and gather intelligence to prevent further incidents.

The police are also appealing to parents, community leaders, and residents to report any suspicious activities, including cult gatherings and potential criminal locations. They have warned that individuals involved in cult activities, along with their sponsors and sympathizers, will face legal consequences.

In light of these developments, the police reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining security in the area, urging residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and continue with their daily activities without fear.
