A tragic incident unfolded in Enugu State, where 30-year-old Emmanuel Okpara has confessed to the murder of his girlfriend, Chinyere, following a heated argument over allegations of HIV infection. The crime took place on September 19, and details of the confession have emerged in a video recording.

Emmanuel recounted that he met Chinyere through Facebook in 2023 while he was in Nekede, Imo State. He later relocated to Enugu in December 2025, coinciding with Chinyere's service in Port Harcourt. Upon her return to Enugu in March 2026, they began a relationship. During their time together, Emmanuel claimed he could cure sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, which led to a confrontation.

According to Emmanuel, Chinyere accused him of being the source of her HIV infection, igniting a fierce argument that escalated into physical violence. He alleged that during the altercation, Chinyere struck him with a pistol, prompting him to seize the weapon and strike her in retaliation. In a shocking turn of events, he admitted to using a machete to inflict severe injuries on her, including cutting off her wrist and delivering deep cuts to her head and neck.

Emmanuel stated that he was under the influence of hard drugs at the time of the incident, which may have contributed to his actions. After the murder, he reportedly wrapped Chinyere's body in a nylon and concealed it in his apartment. It was not until three days later that neighbors, alerted by a foul odor emanating from his residence, broke in and discovered both Emmanuel and the decomposing body of Chinyere.

In a further attempt to cover up the crime, Emmanuel admitted to damaging Chinyere's phone to prevent anyone from contacting her. The disturbing nature of this case has drawn significant attention as it highlights the tragic consequences of domestic disputes and the impact of substance abuse on violent behavior.
