Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued five women, including a mother and her infant, during a recent operation in Katsina State. The rescue operation took place following intelligence reports regarding the movement of suspected terrorists in the vicinity of Madaci Forest, located in Sabuwa Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Thursday via the Nigerian Army's official X handle, the military reported that the operation created significant disruption among the terrorists, which facilitated the rescue of the victims. The rescued individuals included not only the mother and her infant but also three other minors and young adults from the Danja and Funtua Local Government Areas.

After their rescue, the victims were handed over to Hon. Abubakar Musa, the Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, who is responsible for facilitating their reunification with their families. This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat criminal activities and enhance the safety of communities across the region.

In a related development, troops from the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion successfully repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, located in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Acting on intelligence regarding suspicious movements, the troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. During their escape, the attackers abandoned a large herd of livestock, which was later returned to its rightful owners in a ceremony organized by the Shagari Local Government chairman and the local District Head.

The military emphasized that they are continuing aggressive patrols in the affected areas to prevent criminals from operating freely and to support the restoration of normalcy in the region.
