In a significant administrative move, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced the dissolution of all boards, commissions, and parastatals within the state, alongside the termination of appointments for all political appointees. This decision, which affects Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Technical Assistants, was made public through a statement issued by the governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday.

The governor's decision comes as he prepares to begin his second term in office, which is set to commence on October 16, 2026. As his first term draws to a close, Oyebanji emphasized that this restructuring is essential for the upcoming phase of his administration. However, certain key positions have been exempted from this dissolution.

Notably, the chairmen and members of statutory boards such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission will remain in their roles. Additionally, the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will continue to function as per previous directives from the governor.

Furthermore, the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission, and Teaching Service Commission will retain their positions despite the dissolution of their respective boards. Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are also exempt from the termination of appointments.

In his statement, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the affected appointees for their service and contributions to his administration, wishing them success in their future endeavors. This move reflects a strategic approach as the governor prepares for his next term, aiming to streamline operations within the state government while maintaining continuity in critical statutory roles.
