The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has launched a five-day workshop aimed at reinforcing transparency and accountability among its newly recruited officers. The initiative, organized by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), took place at the Commission’s headquarters and various state offices in the North-West geopolitical zone.

Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, Chairman of RMAFC, underscored the importance of integrity and ethical conduct in fulfilling the Commission's constitutional responsibilities. He expressed gratitude to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for their ongoing collaboration in promoting accountability within the public service.

During the workshop, Shehu highlighted that the constitutional duties of RMAFC place it at the core of Nigeria’s fiscal governance, which demands not only competence but also a steadfast commitment to integrity. He stated that public trust can only be achieved when public officers act honestly and transparently in the interest of the citizens.

Shehu emphasized that the fight against corruption extends beyond the roles of ACTU and ICPC; it is a collective responsibility shared by all public officers. He urged participants to ensure that their decisions and actions are guided by legality, accountability, and fairness.

“Every decision we take, every public resource we handle, and every official process we undertake must withstand the tests of legality, accountability, fairness and transparency,” he remarked.

The RMAFC Chairman also encouraged the officers to cultivate a culture of integrity that is reflected in their daily conduct and interactions with the public. He called on them to maximize the workshop's benefits by engaging with resource persons and applying the lessons learned to enhance their professional conduct and service delivery.

Dr. Idris Musa, Chairman of ACTU in the Commission, echoed Shehu’s sentiments, emphasizing that the fight against corruption is a shared duty among public servants. He urged participants to ensure their actions are consistently aligned with principles of integrity and accountability, warning against practices that could erode public confidence in government institutions.

In a further endorsement of the workshop's objectives, Dr. Anike Adeshina, an Assistant Director of Public Education from the ICPC, noted that the program is part of the Federal Government's broader anti-corruption strategy. She explained that the workshop aims to instill a culture of ethical and responsible public service among new staff while reinforcing their understanding of the importance of adherence to established laws and ethical standards.
