The Alaaye of Efon Kingdom, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare, has bestowed chieftaincy titles upon Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, in recognition of their significant contributions to the community's development. The announcement was made during the grand finale of the 43rd Efon Alaaye Day celebration held on Saturday in Efon Alaaye.

Oba Aladejare expressed his gratitude for the efforts of both honorees, stating that the titles serve as a testament to the values upheld in Efon Kingdom, where service and dedication are celebrated. Governor Oyebanji was conferred with the title of Bashorun Ataiyese of Efon Kingdom, while Senator Bamidele received the title of Okanlomo Atunluse of Efon Kingdom. The monarch indicated that the formal investiture of the titles would take place as circumstances allow.

The Alaaye emphasized that the awards, which include honorary chieftaincy titles and entries into the Efon Alaaye Hall of Fame and Roll of Honours, reflect the community's spirit and commitment to excellence. He noted that the Efon Day celebrations, which began as a thanksgiving service on August 24, 1984, have evolved into a vibrant cultural celebration.

In addition to the chieftaincy awards, the 2026 Efon Day featured a variety of activities, including educational and sporting events for the youth, traditional games, a free medical outreach, and the Miss Efon Alaaye beauty pageant. The event served as a platform for community members to come together and celebrate their heritage.

Olumuyiwa Aiyegbusi, President-General of the Efon Alaaye Development League (EDL), urged indigenes to collaborate in enhancing the kingdom through good governance, education, commerce, and industrialisation. He also encouraged investors to explore Efon's potential for tourism, highlighting its favorable climate and scenic beauty.

The Vice-President 1 of the EDL, Mr. Kolawole Ajumobi, acknowledged the contributions of committee members and diaspora members, who have supported the community despite economic challenges. He expressed appreciation for their sacrifices and donations.

In a goodwill message, Segun Afolabi, Chairman of Efon Local Government, commended the unity and peace within the council and the traditional institution. He highlighted his administration's achievements and announced that the state government is fostering private sector involvement in water and power supply, with two investors currently bidding for contracts. Afolabi also mentioned that work on the Erekesan Market has been temporarily halted but will resume soon, while the reconstruction of the Alaaye Palace is progressing well, thanks to a grant from Governor Oyebanji.
