Wike urges FCT residents to vote against Senator Kingibe in 2027 elections
Minister Nyesom Wike campaigns for former Senator Philip Aduda, criticizing Kingibe's performance.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on residents to reject the incumbent senator, Ireti Kingibe, in the upcoming 2027 National Assembly elections. During an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road in Abuja, Wike endorsed former Senator Philip Aduda, who lost to Kingibe in the 2023 elections, describing him as a "man of the people" with the necessary experience to represent FCT residents.
Wike's remarks came as he engaged with the Zaudna community, where he questioned whether Kingibe had made any efforts to visit their neighborhoods. He claimed that residents had not seen Kingibe in their communities, prompting a negative response from the crowd. "You see, Ireti only knows how to talk on television. You should not vote for her and don’t listen to her again. If she’s serious, tell her to come solve your problems. One of the problems is this road. Is it not? And Tinubu is already solving it," Wike stated.
The minister's campaign for Aduda is part of a broader strategy as he also urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the presidential election. Wike emphasized that the performance of the current administration would significantly influence the upcoming elections.
He highlighted the importance of the road project, which was initiated in response to requests from local residents during the inauguration of the Old Keffi Road from Dei Dei to Kado Fish Market. Wike assured the community that the road would be completed before Christmas, allowing residents to enjoy the benefits of the new infrastructure during the festive season. "I informed President Tinubu that I am coming here, and he sent his greetings, with assurance that the road will be completed before the end of December so you could enjoy Christmas with the finished road. Streetlights will be installed as part of the project to strengthen businesses in affected communities," he added.
Engr. Richard Dauda, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), noted that the road connects Zaudna with Kaba-Kagini communities and ends at Kubwa Road. The ongoing construction is expected to enhance connectivity and support local businesses in the area, further underscoring the importance of community engagement in governance and infrastructure development.
