In a significant political shift, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has welcomed former ward leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the All Progressives Congress (APC). This event took place during a meeting in Abeokuta, where the governor expressed confidence in the APC's dominance in Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun highlighted the challenges faced by the opposition parties, questioning why individuals would remain in parties that have experienced consecutive electoral defeats. He pointed out that both the PDP and ADC had failed to secure victories in the last two elections, urging members to reconsider their allegiance. "We don’t make noise, we don’t drink whisky or Hennessy; we work to ensure the continuous development of the state," he stated, emphasizing the APC's commitment to governance and progress.

The governor further elaborated on his administration's focus on completing abandoned projects initiated by previous governments, asserting that these projects were funded by taxpayers and should not be neglected. He noted that his government is the first to prioritize the completion of such projects, stating, "This is the first government that has completed abandoned projects from previous administrations. Doing that is part of my vow because they were not embarked upon with anybody’s father’s money; they were funded with our taxes."

Abiodun assured the new members that they would soon experience the benefits of being part of the APC-led government, encouraging them to become advocates for the party and its Renewed Hope Agenda. He also announced plans for a formal rally to celebrate their induction into the party.

The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi, expressed his satisfaction with the defectors' decision to join the ruling party, describing it as a wise choice. He emphasized that the APC remains a welcoming platform for all members, offering opportunities for collective development.

Former leaders from the PDP and ADC, including Hon. Adebowale Emmanuel and Prince Adeyemi Adewale, voiced their support for the move, stating that it was time to abandon the opposition in favor of progress under Governor Abiodun's leadership. Chief Michael Bakare, representing the ADC in Ijebu East, thanked the governor for recognizing the need for a traditional ruler in their community, reinforcing their decision to join the APC as a step towards embracing development.

Hon. Erinle Opeoluwa Samuel, ADC Chairman in Ijebu North-East, also acknowledged the positive changes taking place in Ogun State, expressing regret that the decision to join the APC had not been made sooner. This influx of former opposition leaders into the APC marks a notable moment in Ogun State's political landscape, potentially reshaping the dynamics ahead of future elections.
