Ekiti State allocates ₦3 billion for new High Court complex in Ado Ekiti
The Ekiti State Government has approved ₦3 billion for a new High Court Office Complex to enhance judicial operations.

The Ekiti State Government has taken a significant step to enhance its judicial infrastructure by approving ₦3 billion for the construction of a new High Court Office Complex at the premises of the Ekiti State High Court of Justice in Ado Ekiti. This decision was made during the State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday, as announced by the state Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun.
Olatunbosun emphasized that the new complex is essential due to the increasing operational demands of the court, particularly following the recent appointment of five additional judges. He stated, "The approval was necessitated by the inadequacy of the existing office accommodation and court infrastructure of the High Court to meet current operational demands."
The construction of the new complex aims to provide a conducive working environment for judicial officers, court staff, and legal practitioners. It is expected to significantly improve the overall administration of justice and access to judicial services within the state. The project is anticipated to enhance the working conditions and operational capacity of the Ekiti State Judiciary, thereby strengthening the infrastructure required for efficient justice administration.
The contract for the construction has been awarded to Messrs Axial Nigeria Limited, a company currently engaged in another project at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital. The project will be executed through the Direct Procurement method, adhering to the state's public procurement regulations, with an estimated completion period of 18 months.
In addition to the new court complex, the State Executive Council also approved various initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and improving public services. Among these initiatives is the employment of 30 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) into the state’s public service, which reflects the government's commitment to equitable access to employment opportunities. The council directed that the Ekiti State Disability Law, which mandates a 5 percent reservation of job opportunities for PWDs, be strictly followed in all future employment exercises.
Furthermore, the council allocated ₦142.69 million for the construction of a pump to ensure a reliable water supply to the newly built 80-bed hospital complex at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital. An additional ₦194.66 million was approved for the supply and installation of transformers and electrical accessories at the same facility, aimed at facilitating its effective use and operation.
Lastly, ₦145 million was earmarked for the overhaul and extension of the State Enterprise Broadband Network Infrastructure across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This initiative is expected to bolster e-governance and improve service delivery efficiency across the state, further advancing the administration’s agenda for a technology-driven public service.
