Traditional rulers, local government chairmen and residents of Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas have inspected newly completed and ongoing road projects across the two councils.

The inspection tour, which took place on Tuesday, was led by the Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Honourable Peter Oluokun, alongside his counterpart from Oyo West, Prince Akeem Babatunde Olukitibi.

During the inspection, the delegation commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s sustained investment in road infrastructure.

The team inspected the newly completed asphalt road linking Iseke, Ladindin, Ojongbodu and Isokun, a major infrastructure project spanning Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas. The project covers a total distance of four kilometres, with 3.2 kilometres completed in Oyo East and the remaining 0.8 kilometre in Oyo West.

Speaking with journalists after the inspection, the Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Prince Akeem Olukitibi, praised Governor Makinde for prioritising road infrastructure across the state. He noted that the administration’s interventions have improved transportation, enhanced accessibility and stimulated economic activities in several communities.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, describing her support as instrumental to the approval and successful execution of the road projects.

Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Honourable Peter Oluokun, expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for the numerous developmental projects executed within the council area, describing them as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

He highlighted key projects delivered by the state government, including the Apaara–Oke Apo Road, Molaba–Balogun Road, Olugbon–Mobolaje Road, Oba Adeyemi Road and the Ajagba–Ogeese Road, as well as the Kosobo Road, noting that they have significantly improved connectivity, facilitated commerce and enhanced the socio-economic development of the benefiting communities.

Honourable Oluokun also commended Senator Monsurat Sunmonu for her unwavering support towards the successful delivery of the projects.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyeniyi, described Governor Makinde as a visionary and people-centred leader whose administration has continued to transform communities through strategic infrastructure development. He also applauded Senator Sunmonu for her commitment to the development of Oyo Federal Constituency.

In separate remarks, the Elepe of Iseke and the Alaguo of Aguo expressed satisfaction with the quality of the completed roads, saying the projects would ease movement, promote trade and accelerate economic growth across the affected communities.

Speaking on behalf of the contractor, Quickborn Nigeria Limited, the Project Engineer, Adewara Muyiwa, said construction work had progressed according to schedule. He confirmed the completion of the four-kilometre stretch in Oyo East and said work was ongoing on the remaining 0.8-kilometre section in Oyo West.

He assured residents that the remaining section would be completed in line with the approved specifications.

Community leaders and residents also expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government for the intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the Oke Apo community, the Mufasir of Oke Apo offered prayers for Governor Makinde, asking Allah to grant him continued wisdom, strength and good health to sustain the delivery of developmental projects across the state.

The inspection ended with residents applauding the Makinde administration’s commitment to providing quality infrastructure and promoting sustainable development across Oyo State.

Other traditional rulers at the inspection included the Oloodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adegboye; the Onisamu of Samu, Oba Lamidi Oyewale; Oba Afonja Mukaila; the Alajagba of Oyo, Oba Samuel Odurinde; the Ona-Isokun of Oyo; the Elepe of Iseke, Oba Abel Olufemi Oyekan; the Onimileke of Imileke, Oyo, Oba Fakayode Alowonle; the Alaaguo of Aguoland, Oba David Oyediran; the Onigbudugbu of Gbudugbu, Oyo, Oba Salawu Oyeniran; and the Alapa-Ara of Apa-Ara, Oba Tijani Ajeigbe, among others.
