Suspected terrorists have murdered two people, including a church choirmaster, and abducted 20 others in a fresh attack on Akwando community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 has heightened fears among residents, particularly as neighbouring communities continue to grapple with repeated assaults and abductions.
The incident was disclosed on Thursday by the President of the Kiturmi Unity Development Association (KUDA), Dr Joseph Ariko and the association's Publicity Secretary, Manasseh Samuel Akwando.
In the statement, the association expressed concern over the recurring attacks on communities in Kuturmi land, describing the latest incident as another troubling development in the area's worsening security situation..
KUDA released the names of the 20 people reportedly abducted during the attack.
They include Usman Galadima, La'a'zarus Genesis, Madalin Markus, Happy Stephen, Lovet Ishaya, Afiniki Irimeya, Amina Ahmadu, Miracle Genesis, Hellen Irimeya and Musa Genesis.
Others are Janet Irimeya, Gloria Markus, Zila Stephen, Alis Ahmadu, Haske Ahmadu, Great Isiac, Hanatu Irimeya, Desmon Ishaya, Siam Shagari and Nansy Genesis.
The association recalled that an Easter Sunday attack on Ariko community reportedly left five people dead at the scene, while another 17 victims later died in captivity.
It also raised concerns over a separate attack on Awon community, where two people were reportedly murdered and 11 others abducted.
According to KUDA, five of the victims abducted in Awon regained their freedom on November 3, 2026, but one reportedly d!ed the following day.
Another victim escaped, while five others passed away in captivity.
The association said the repeated attacks had triggered widespread fear and displacement, disrupted economic activities and forced residents to abandon their farmlands.
It further alleged that armed groups had restricted access to ancestral lands and agricultural activities, with residents reportedly required to pay levies before cultivating their farms or harvesting produce.
The association called for independent investigations into the allegations and circumstances surrounding the attacks.
KUDA appealed to the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government and Kachia Local Government Council to urgently deploy adequately equipped security personnel to Akwando, Ariko, Awon and other vulnerable communities.
It also demanded coordinated security operations to secure the release of the 20 abducted residents and others still being held captive.
Other demands include the establishment of permanent security posts, regular patrols, effective early-warning systems, prosecution of those responsible and humanitarian assistance for affected families and displaced residents.
The association urged President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff to treat the situation as an urgent security and humanitarian concern.
