In a shocking incident in Ghana, police have apprehended a 72-year-old man, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, in connection with the brutal murders of a prominent fashion designer and her uncle. The victims, 47-year-old Irene Atugugba and her 57-year-old uncle, George Atugugba, were found fatally injured at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono, a suburb of Greater Accra.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command announced the arrest on November 1, revealing that Anto was taken into custody at his hideout in Tikrom, near Ejisu, following a tip-off regarding his location. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the murders stemmed from a financial dispute, with reports indicating that Anto had borrowed GHβ‚΅500,000 from George Atugugba and failed to repay the debt.

Police acted swiftly on intelligence that led them to Anto's location, where they not only arrested him but also seized a Smith & Wesson pistol along with seven rounds of live ammunition. The firearm is now part of the evidence being examined as the investigation unfolds.

The tragic deaths of Irene and George Atugugba have sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the severe consequences of financial disputes. As the investigation continues, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto remains in police custody, assisting with inquiries into the double homicide.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the murders, but the case has raised serious concerns about the impact of unresolved financial issues on personal relationships and community safety. The police have assured the public that they will pursue all leads to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
