A heartbreaking accident in Gombe State has resulted in the tragic deaths of five siblings after a water tanker collided with a commercial tricycle transporting them to school. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning near Kanady Academy, located along APC Square in the Government Reserved Area of Gombe metropolis.

The victims have been identified as Maryam Mansir Adamu and Usman Mansir Adamu, both in Primary Five at Jekadafari Primary School; Hauwau Mansir Adamu, a student at Government Junior Secondary School, Jekadafari; Aliyu Mansir Adamu from Government Day Secondary School, Ahmadu Gombe; and Fatima Mansir Adamu, whose school remains undisclosed. In addition to the fatalities, three other children sustained injuries in the crash and were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The Gombe State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samson Kaura, confirmed the incident, stating that officers arrived on the scene after the initial rescue operations had concluded. Following the accident, FRSC personnel also visited the hospital to assess the situation and determine the number of casualties.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed his condolences, describing the loss of five children from a single family as devastating. In a statement released by his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor lamented that the children died at an age when they should have been pursuing their education and building a brighter future. He extended his sympathies to the bereaved family and the Jekadafari community, emphasizing that this incident represents an irreparable loss.
