In a decisive move to counteract rising threats of violence in Enugu State, former lawmakers have announced a N5 million bounty for information leading to the capture of individuals responsible for recent terrorist threats. This announcement was made by Dr. Josef Onoh, the chairman of the forum of former members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, during a press conference held in Abuja.

The initiative comes in response to a disturbing viral video that showcased threats of mass killings against the peaceful populace of Enugu. Dr. Onoh condemned these threats as treasonous and cowardly, emphasizing that such actions represent a serious affront to the security and sovereignty of the state. He stated that the forum stands firmly against any attempts to disrupt the peace that the people of Enugu have worked hard to establish.

Onoh expressed his commitment to ensuring the safety of Enugu residents, stating, "Enugu State is not, and will never become, a playground for terrorists, bandits, or extremist agitators." He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, reinforcing the message that the state will not tolerate intimidation from criminal elements.

In addition to the main bounty, Onoh announced a N50,000 reward for anyone who can provide the names and verified identities of the individuals appearing in the threatening video, as well as details about their relatives. This initiative aims to encourage community involvement in the fight against terrorism and to facilitate the swift apprehension of those involved.

The former lawmakers' call to action aligns with ongoing efforts by the Enugu State Government and security agencies to maintain peace and order. Onoh urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security forces to launch an aggressive manhunt for the perpetrators of these threats.

He reassured the people of Enugu that their safety is paramount and that the forum will not remain passive while criminals attempt to instill fear within the community. "Let me make it clear that Enugu State belongs to the peaceful and law-abiding individuals, and forces of terror will always be defeated," Onoh declared, rallying support for the ongoing security efforts in the region.

As the situation develops, the forum of former lawmakers continues to advocate for a united front against terrorism, urging all citizens to contribute to the collective security of Enugu State.
