Family of late gospel singer Toluwanisings demands investigation before burial
The family of Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, seeks clarity on his sudden death.

The family of late gospel musician Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, is calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his unexpected death. The singer, celebrated for his uplifting worship music, passed away on October 14 in Ibadan, Oyo State, after reportedly slumping.
In a recent interview, the singer's uncle expressed deep concern over the sudden nature of Toluwanisings' demise and urged the government, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to assist in uncovering the truth. He emphasized that the family has collectively decided to postpone any burial plans until the cause of death is determined. "We need the help of Nigeria because Sodiq's death is hurting us. We need the help of important people, from the government down to religious leaders and traditionalists, to help us find out the true cause of his death," he stated.
Toluwanisings, who originally bore the Muslim name Sodiq, had converted to Christianity and adopted his new name following his spiritual journey. His uncle reiterated the family's pain and the need for clarity, stating, "Nobody should question if we have sent anyone to investigate. Yes, we are calling on everyone to help investigate because his death is painful to us."
The call for an investigation comes amid reports of a dispute between Toluwanisings' widow and his father regarding the final resting place. While the father wishes to bury his son within a building he was constructing, the widow insists on a cemetery burial. This disagreement adds to the family's turmoil as they navigate their grief alongside the unresolved questions surrounding the singer's death.
The uncle has made it clear that the family desires to lay Toluwanisings to rest at his residence in Ibadan, where his wife and children currently live. As they await answers, the family remains united in their decision to hold off on any burial arrangements until they have clarity on the matter. The community and fans of the late artist are also left in shock, mourning the loss of a beloved figure in the gospel music scene.
