In a significant operation, troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued two women who were kidnapped by bandits in Kebbi State. The women were taken from the residence of Alhaji Aminu Mai Suga, the chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sakaba Local Government Area. This operation highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in the region.

The incident occurred on Friday night when armed assailants invaded the Dirin Daji community, resulting in chaos and violence. During the attack, two other women were shot; one sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach, while the other was injured in the buttock. Local sources reported that these injured women were promptly taken to the General Hospital for medical treatment.

The rescue operation, which was reported by crisis journalist Bakastine on social media platform X, also led to the arrest of four suspected bandits. This development is a relief for residents who have been grappling with frequent attacks and kidnappings by armed groups in the area.

Prior to the successful rescue, security personnel had attempted to intervene shortly after the abduction but were unable to locate the victims. The Nigerian Army's swift action in this instance has been welcomed by the local community, who have expressed growing concerns over their safety amid escalating violence.

The situation in Kebbi State reflects a broader trend of insecurity affecting various parts of Nigeria, where banditry and kidnapping have become increasingly prevalent. The military's recent efforts to combat these threats are crucial in restoring a sense of safety for residents in vulnerable communities.
