Nigerian military eliminates 103 ISWAP terrorists in strategic air operations
Intelligence-driven airstrikes by the Nigerian military have successfully neutralized 103 ISWAP terrorists in the North-East.

The Nigerian military has reported a significant victory against the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), neutralizing 103 terrorists through a series of intelligence-led air operations conducted between October 10 and 18, 2026. This operation was part of the ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) to dismantle terrorist networks in the North-East region of the country.
According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for OPHK, the coordinated air strikes involved the Nigerian Army Aviation, the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft Regiment (NARPARS), and the Air Component. These forces executed seven precision strikes targeting various locations in Borno and Adamawa states, which are known hotspots for ISWAP activities.
The targeted areas included Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area, Badu in Monguno LGA, and Duste Uku in Gombi LGA, among others. Notably, one of the strikes on October 18 aimed at the alternate residence of Abu Saleem, ISWAP's Wali of South Lake Chad, leading to the neutralization of key figures within the group, including Jindullah, a prominent fighter and chief security guard for Abu Saleem, and Abul Kissa, a member of the group's Shura Council.
The military's statement highlighted that these operations not only resulted in the neutralization of high-profile terrorists but also effectively destroyed several logistical facilities used by ISWAP, including nine boat engines and multiple motorcycles. This disruption is expected to significantly impair the group's operational capabilities and their ability to regroup and launch further attacks.
The air campaign commenced on October 10, with the first strike targeting Gudumbali, followed by subsequent operations in Badu, Mairari, and Duste Uku. On October 13, intelligence assets tracked a gathering of over 100 terrorists, leading to a successful strike that reportedly neutralized approximately 30 of them.
These sustained military efforts underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in combating terrorism in the region. The Nigerian military remains committed to maintaining pressure on ISWAP and restoring peace and security to the North-East, as emphasized in their recent communications. The continued collaboration among various military branches has proven crucial in achieving these operational successes against the terrorist group.
