Yellow-coloured urine is not a symptom of diabetes. Instead, the most prevalent reason for yellow-coloured urine is the hydration level since urochrome, a pigment produced by the body during red blood cells decomposition, will be more concentrated when dehydrated and thus give dark yellow colour. Pale yellow indicates sufficient hydration.
When someone consumes excessive B vitamins, they will leave the body as a part of yellow-coloured urine. Unmanaged diabetes increases blood sugar and causes the kidneys to draw extra fluids into the urine with the goal of eliminating the excess sugar and hence causing larger amounts of urine to be produced.
Hence, increased drinking and urination should be taken as symptoms of diabetes since urine itself will be clear due to higher volume than usual. Dark amber or honey-coloured urine should be viewed as a symptom of dehydration worth attention. On top of that, clouded urine suggests infection, whereas unusual smell might indicate high blood sugar.
