Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has voiced his deep concern following the release of a distressing video featuring Ahmed Zakka, who was kidnapped along with his wife and their infant child in Kaduna State. The video, which has circulated widely, shows Zakka pleading for his life and the safety of his family, highlighting the severe security challenges currently plaguing Nigeria.

In a heartfelt message posted on his Hausa-language Facebook page, Atiku described the situation as heartbreaking and lamented the plight of Zakka's family. He stated, "It is unfortunate that a Nigerian has been reduced to begging for his life and pleading for his family to be spared in the hands of kidnappers. The situation is even more disturbing considering that a helpless infant, who cannot speak or see the world for themselves, is also caught up in this ordeal."

Atiku emphasized the urgent need for security agencies to intensify their efforts to ensure the safe rescue of Zakka, his wife, and their baby. He called for immediate action, urging authorities to prioritize the recovery of all Nigerians currently held captive by kidnappers.

The former Vice-President underscored the government's responsibility to protect the lives and property of its citizens, stating, "It is imperative for the government to take measures that will bring this problem to an end, so that Nigerians can live in their homes and go about their daily activities without the fear of being kidnapped."

Atiku's comments come amid growing concerns about the rising incidents of kidnapping across Nigeria, which have left many citizens living in fear. The former leader concluded his message with prayers for the safe return of Zakka and his family, as well as all other victims of kidnapping in the country. His appeal reflects a broader call for enhanced security measures to combat the escalating crisis of abductions in Nigeria.
