Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has voiced strong criticism against the Nigerian government for what he perceives as an exaggerated celebration of the maintenance work done on the Onitsha Head Bridge in Anambra State. In a viral video that has captured widespread attention on social media, Odumeje questioned the rationale behind the government's focus on a structure that has been in existence since the 1950s.

The prophet expressed his concerns, stating, "If I see any of you at Onitsha Head Bridge celebrating that you maintained a 1950s bridge for the South-East, Holy Ghost will kpaiii you there. This country has no conscience." He likened the situation to someone celebrating the repainting of a car that has been parked for over half a century, emphasizing that the bridge's maintenance should not warrant a festive atmosphere.

Odumeje's remarks have sparked a mix of reactions from the public, with many taking to social media to express their opinions. Some users, like Kenneth Igili, echoed the prophet's sentiments, arguing that there is little reason for celebration over the repainting or maintenance of the bridge. "Nobody in the South-East needs a party for a repaint, and the palm-wine drinkers in Onitsha will tell you what they think of that. They should open the bridge first, then we’ll talk," he stated.

Supporters of Odumeje, such as Mickyiv4, praised him for his outspoken stance, calling for religious leaders to take a more active role in addressing governmental issues. "What is happening to Odumeje? Why has he become so radicalized, brazen & politically savvy? This is what we expect from ALL the religious heads of the major churches in Nigeria, ‘absolute truth to absolute power’ at all times without fear or favor," the user commented.

Conversely, some individuals disagreed with Odumeje’s criticism. Ayo remarked, "Reason no serious government will take any ungrateful people serious," suggesting that the prophet's comments may not resonate with everyone in the community.

The Onitsha Head Bridge, a vital infrastructure in the South-East, has been a focal point of government attention following its maintenance. However, Odumeje’s remarks have raised questions about the appropriateness of celebrating such efforts, especially when many feel that the bridge has long been overdue for comprehensive upgrades rather than mere maintenance. As discussions continue online, the debate reflects broader frustrations with governmental priorities and accountability in Nigeria.
