Tragic NAF Crash Claims Lives of Prominent Obidients in Ondo State
Five notable figures among the victims of the recent NAF aircraft crash have been identified, sparking widespread mourning.

A tragic incident involving a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft has resulted in the deaths of all 25 individuals on board, including five prominent members of the Obidient movement. The crash occurred on October 5 in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as the aircraft was en route from Benin City, Edo State, to Lagos.
Serah Ibrahim, a notable figure within the Obidient political movement, took to social media to express her grief and pay tribute to her friends who lost their lives in the crash. Among the deceased were Chikaodi, George Eledan, Aham Manchester, Ukeme Maradona, and Brother Isaac. Ibrahim shared personal memories of each individual, highlighting their contributions to the Obidient movement and their vibrant personalities.
Chikaodi, who was particularly close to Ibrahim, was just days away from celebrating his birthday on October 13. Ibrahim described him as a dedicated supporter of the movement, stating, "He should be celebrating another year in a few days from now."
The aircraft, identified by its tail number NGR 931, went down in the Igbokoda area, prompting immediate search-and-rescue operations by the NAF. All 25 individuals aboard, consisting of five crew members and 20 passengers, perished in the incident. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has ordered a thorough investigation into the crash's circumstances.
Ibrahim recounted her emotional journey upon learning about the crash. Initially avoiding news coverage due to her fears, she was devastated to discover that several acquaintances were among the victims after speaking with her cousin, a Pilot Officer.
In her heartfelt tribute, she fondly remembered George Eledan, known as "Brother George the Shark," for his exceptional swimming skills. She expressed her belief that had the plane crashed into water, he would have survived. Ibrahim also reminisced about Aham Manchester, whose nickname humorously mirrored his surname, and Ukeme Maradona, a passionate football enthusiast. She described Brother Isaac as a calm and caring presence, always checking in on others.
The loss of these individuals has left a significant impact on their communities, particularly among their fellow Obidients, who are supporters of Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State. Following the crash, President Bola Tinubu declared three days of national mourning, reflecting the tragedy's profound effect on the nation.
As investigations continue, the families and friends of the victims are grappling with their grief, with Ibrahim expressing her disbelief at the loss. "I still refuse to believe this," she wrote, emphasizing the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on those who knew and loved the deceased.
