A young Nigerian lady named Aisha Toro, has passed away following her battle with depression. A close friend, Basarakiya, confirmed the tragic news and announced that Aisha will be laid to rest on Wednesday, October 7, after a funeral prayer at Jumma'a Mosque, Senior Staff Quarters, BSADP in Bauchi State. Aisha had openly shared her mental health struggles and su!cidal thoughts in X posts. Her posts escalated from October 1, 2026 until her d3ath a few days later. On October 4, at 11:44 pm, she wrote, "If I wake up I am going to be so mad." Two minutes later, she made her last post: "Sweet d3ath." In a heartbreaking tribute: Basarakiya wrote: "We had a plan to start over together, we said "fuck depression, we are starting over" house hunting and all but you left me knowing fully well that no one can tolerate me more than you." Following the news, Basarakiya faced backlash from X users who accused her of failing Aisha. One user Ummulkhaira, wrote: "rinkitay_ spent over a week posting that she was not okay. She wrote about wanting to end it, and still, nobody noticed. This is a wake-up call. Checking on your mutuals is not optional. A comment under the post. Send DM, a simple "are you okay?" Most people who are that low leave the signs before they go. We just have to be willing to see them. May Allah forgive her shortcomings and be gentle with her." In response to the criticisms, Basarakiya announced she would be stepping away from the platform to grieve her friend in peace. "I'll be deactivating my account for a while. I can't keep exposing myself to some people's vile and hurtful tweets when I'm already carrying a pain I can barely put into words. I lost my sweet girl, and a part of me went with her. I'm grieving her, missing her, and trying to learn how to exist in a world without her in it," she wrote. "I'm at the edge of snapping, and I know that's not what my girl needs from me. Right now, I need to step away from all the noise, protect my heart, and give myself the space to grieve her the way she deserves. May your soul rest in perfect peace, you will never be forgotten."
