Passenger dies on Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos amid distressing incident
A Nigerian passenger died shortly before landing in Lagos after exhibiting aggressive behavior during the flight.

A tragic incident occurred on a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos when a passenger died shortly before landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on the night of October 6. The airline confirmed that the medical emergency unfolded approximately 20 minutes prior to the scheduled landing, around 9:20 PM.
According to Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the passenger had been restless and aggressive during the flight. Reports indicate that he attempted to access the cockpit and even tried to open the aircraft's rear door, prompting the crew to take immediate action. In a bid to ensure the safety of all passengers on board, the crew restrained him by tying his hands behind his back.
The passenger was initially denied entry into Madagascar by customs authorities, leading Kenya Airways to facilitate his return to Nigeria as the airline responsible for his transport. Upon arrival in Lagos, he was declared dead, although his identity has not yet been officially disclosed.
The Nigeria Police Force has taken over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the passenger's death. Achimugu noted that the family of the deceased has the option to request an autopsy as the inquiry progresses. The spokesperson for the Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Muhammed Adeola, was contacted for further comments but had not responded at the time of reporting.
In a statement released on October 7, Kenya Airways expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The airline stated that it is cooperating with local authorities and aviation regulators while also being respectful of the privacy and dignity of those affected by this unfortunate event.
This incident raises important questions about passenger safety and emergency protocols on commercial flights. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the events that led to this tragic outcome.
