In a tragic turn of events, Rwas Paul Danladi, the former chairman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), was shot dead by gunmen on the evening of October 7, 2026, along the Gashish-Barkin Ladi road in Plateau State. The incident occurred around 6 PM as Danladi was riding his motorcycle back to Barkin Ladi, when he was ambushed near Rantis Village.

The BYM confirmed the news of Danladi's death in a statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a respected community leader. Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the association, highlighted Danladi's contributions to the youth and community, offering condolences to his family and the Gashish community.

This incident was part of a series of violent attacks that took place on the same day across various Berom communities. Reports indicate that two other individuals were injured in separate incidents. One victim was severely hurt in an attack at Gwom-Ajang in Foron and has been transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital for medical care. Another individual, identified as Mafeng Samuel Lamba, was injured along Sho Road and is also receiving treatment. Additionally, Bitrus Pam Dadon was attacked on the same road, where his motorcycle was stolen.

In light of these violent occurrences, the BYM has called upon the Plateau State Government and security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, to conduct a thorough investigation into Danladi's killing and the other attacks. They emphasized the need for increased security measures and surveillance in Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Riyom, and surrounding areas that are vulnerable to such violence.

The association urged security forces to enhance intelligence gathering and implement preventive measures to safeguard residents from future attacks. Efforts to obtain comments from security agencies regarding these incidents were unsuccessful before publication.

The recent violence adds to the growing concerns over security in Plateau State, where residents have faced increasing threats from armed groups. The BYM's appeal for action underscores the urgent need for improved safety and protection for communities in the region.
