Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated on Sunday that there is no military resolution to the ongoing conflict with the United States, which has seen escalating tensions since the war initiated by the US and Israel in late February. As diplomatic efforts appear stalled, Araghchi's remarks highlight Iran's stance against military confrontation, asserting that only negotiations can lead to a peaceful resolution.

At a gathering of foreign ambassadors, Araghchi warned that should the US choose to escalate military actions, Iran's response would be significantly stronger. He emphasized, "There is no military solution, nor any solution based on new sanctions," advocating instead for negotiations that are rooted in justice and fairness. This statement comes in the wake of a failed Memorandum of Understanding that was aimed at establishing a framework for a permanent resolution to the conflict, which collapsed due to disputes over control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial maritime passage for global oil shipments, and Iran has been actively asserting its influence over this strategic waterway. Since the onset of the conflict, Iran has attacked vessels attempting to navigate the strait without its permission, further complicating the situation.

Recent indirect talks between Iranian and US officials took place during the United Nations General Assembly, where Iran presented seven conditions for reopening the strait. However, these proposals were dismissed by the Trump administration, which has signaled a willingness to explore both further negotiations and potential military operations in the region.

In recent weeks, the US has reduced its military operations in favor of economic pressure against Iran, marking a shift in strategy. Notably, there have been no US strikes on Iranian targets since September 1, signaling a possible pause in direct military engagement.

As the situation remains tense, the international community continues to watch closely, with Iran reiterating its commitment to defending itself against any military aggression while calling for a return to diplomatic discussions to resolve the ongoing conflict.
