Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are poised to earn the largest paydays of their careers when they finally clash on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. This highly anticipated bout marks the culmination of a decade-long rivalry that has seen numerous negotiations fall through due to various disputes.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that the financial stakes for this fight are unprecedented, stating that the earnings will likely be the highest ever for any British boxer. "The money these fellows are getting paid is phenomenal. If they did not do it, they would be crazy. It is huge, huge purses. Massive money," Warren remarked, emphasizing the significance of this event in boxing history.

The fight has garnered substantial backing from Netflix and Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh, which has played a crucial role in bringing the two fighters together after years of stalled discussions. Initially, there were plans to host the fight at Madison Square Garden in New York, supported by UFC boss Dana White. However, Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, insisted on a UK venue, citing a legally binding contract that excluded White's involvement.

After much negotiation, Warren successfully secured the Principality Stadium, which has a capacity of 70,000. There are ongoing discussions regarding the timing of the fight, with a potential ring-walk scheduled for between one and two in the morning to cater to a prime-time audience in the United States. Warren noted the necessity of accommodating global viewers, referencing the recent World Cup matches that aired at late hours.

Warren, a veteran in the boxing promotion industry, expressed confidence in Fury's ability to win the fight, predicting a knockout victory. He highlighted Fury's resilience and experience, suggesting that he has aged better than Joshua. "Styles make fights. They are older fighters; I think Tyson has worn better than AJ. Tyson has a great chin and the ability to recover from being knocked down," he said.

This December showdown is part of a busy boxing calendar leading up to the end of the year, with several notable matches scheduled, including Ben Whittaker versus Conor Wallace on October 3, Daniel Dubois against Fabio Wardley on October 17, and Canelo Alvarez facing Christian Mbili on October 31. The Fury-Joshua fight is expected to be the highlight of this boxing season, drawing significant attention from fans and media alike.
