Emir of Zazzau pledges support to NAHCON for improved Hajj operations
During a recent visit, the Emir of Zazzau assured NAHCON of his support while advocating for enhanced efficiency in Hajj management.

The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has expressed his unwavering support for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) during a visit to the commission's headquarters in Abuja. His visit, which took place on Wednesday, was aimed at discussing the ongoing reforms within NAHCON and the importance of improving the efficiency of Hajj operations for Nigerian pilgrims.
In a statement released by Shafi Mohammed, NAHCON's Head of Information and Publications Division, the Emir acknowledged the monumental task of managing logistics for tens of thousands of pilgrims. He emphasized the need for dedication, transparency, and strategic planning in order to ensure a smooth Hajj experience. "Hajj is a significant spiritual journey, and the comfort, safety, and well-being of our people while fulfilling this religious obligation must remain paramount," he stated.
Bamalli further highlighted the role of the Zazzau Emirate and the traditional institution in mobilizing and sensitizing intending pilgrims. He urged NAHCON to continue its drive for structural efficiency, early preparations, and transparent communication to address recurring operational challenges faced during the Hajj.
In response, NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, expressed gratitude for the Emir's visit, describing it as a significant morale boost for the commission's management and staff. He briefed the Emir on NAHCON's latest policy frameworks, digital innovations, and strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing the Hajj experience. These initiatives focus on reducing costs, improving accommodation and feeding arrangements, and streamlining the airlift of pilgrims.
Yusuf assured the Emir that NAHCON would consider the valuable insights shared during their interaction, reaffirming the commission's commitment to delivering a world-class Hajj experience that meets the expectations of both the Nigerian government and the Muslim Ummah.
Looking ahead, Nigeria has been allocated a quota of 50,000 pilgrims for the upcoming 2027 Hajj. Of these, 35,000 slots are designated for government-sponsored pilgrims, while the remaining 15,000 are reserved for licensed tour operators. In compliance with the requirements set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, NAHCON successfully uploaded the biometric data of all intending pilgrims onto the designated Nusuk-Masar platform on September 26. Furthermore, states are expected to complete payment of all 2027 Hajj fares by December 2, 2026.
