The Nigeria Democratic Congress in Benue State has condemned the murder of Igbu Terhemen, urging for justice.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Benue State has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the brutal murder of Igbu Terhemen, the party’s Fiidi Ward Council Chairman. Igbu was reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants who tied him up, injected him with a suspected poisonous substance, and left him near his home in the Makurdi Local Government Area.
According to reports, the incident occurred around the NNPC depot along the Makurdi-Otukpo Road. Igbu was discovered in a critical condition, nearly unconscious and unable to communicate before succumbing to his injuries. Agile Bem, the State Publicity Secretary of the NDC, shared these details in a statement released on Wednesday.
In the statement, Bem described the murder as a “broad-daylight evil,” emphasizing the need for immediate action from security agencies to investigate the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. The NDC's State Chairman, Mr. Ohini Ojegbe, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the urgency of addressing such violent acts that threaten the safety of community leaders.
The party praised Igbu Terhemen as a dedicated member whose contributions were invaluable, especially during a time when his leadership was crucial. The NDC extended its heartfelt condolences to Igbu’s family, the Fiidi community, and all party members, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about the safety of political figures in the region and has prompted calls for enhanced security measures to protect local leaders from violence and intimidation. As investigations continue, the NDC is hopeful that justice will be served for Igbu Terhemen and his family.
