The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully apprehended a 60-year-old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, in connection with the kidnapping of a 16-year-old boy, Usman Dauda. The incident took place in Zigau Village, Shira Local Government Area, and the police reported that the victim was rescued unharmed during the operation.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the police received a distress call around 10 PM on September 28, 2026, from the victim's father, who reported that his son had been abducted from Misau town and taken to Bangala Village by Abubakar. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect intended to transport the teenager to Kano for reasons that remain unclear.

Following the report, detectives were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they successfully rescued Usman Dauda and arrested Abdullahi Abubakar. After the rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital Yana for a medical examination to ensure his well-being.

In addition to the kidnapping case, the police also reported a separate operation on the same day, where five suspects were arrested at Doya Quarters in Bauchi. These individuals were allegedly involved in criminal activities including conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, mischief, and theft. They were caught in the act of stealing windows and glass from an incomplete building just before the owner arrived.

The police acted on credible intelligence, enabling them to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items. Furthermore, at around 5:30 AM, officers received information about hoodlums seen with suspected stolen goods concealed in a black bag. The police mobilized quickly and arrested these suspects as well, confirming that the items were indeed stolen.

The Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all cases be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution. SP Nafiu Habib emphasized the command's commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in their efforts.
