In a significant operation, troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma successfully rescued 41 travellers who had been abducted by bandits in Zamfara State. The victims, who were en route from Senegal to Kano State, found themselves in peril after their commercial vehicle broke down along a highway in the Tsafe Local Government Area.

The incident occurred when the vehicle developed a mechanical fault, leaving the passengers stranded and vulnerable. Taking advantage of the situation, armed bandits attempted to abduct the occupants. However, the military acted swiftly upon receiving actionable intelligence regarding the unfolding situation.

According to a statement released by the operation, the troops mobilized quickly to the scene and engaged the armed group with superior firepower. This decisive action forced the bandits to abandon their captives and flee into nearby farmlands. The operation emphasized that all 41 victims, which included 24 males, 10 females, and seven children, were successfully rescued unharmed.

Following the rescue, the victims are currently receiving necessary support and are expected to be reunited with their families and transit authorities. The military operation highlighted the ongoing efforts to maintain security in the region, particularly along major highways, which have been prone to bandit attacks.

The rescue operation is part of a broader strategy by the military to disrupt bandit activities and protect both communities and travellers in the North-West region of Nigeria.
